September 3 - Dublin

After sleeping 11 hours, we enjoyed our first full Irish breakfast - beans, pudding, sausage links, Irish bacon, hash browns, eggs, toast, orange juice, coffee and cereal. Met Ryan and Christine Ferguson from Calgary Canada who were just beginning their 6 month journey around the world.  They quit their jobs (engineer and pharmacist) sold their home, and took off!

Bernadette dropped off Ryan and Christine to a bus tour and then drove Jim and me to the the National Library of Ireland.  While I searched the microfilms for parish records (for 4 hours!) Jim visited museums (history, archaeology and art).

We found a terrific take-out lunch spot  at KC Peaches where Jim ordered a salad and I had an awesome sandwich which tasted like a caprese salad.  We ate on a bench in St. Stephens Green Park

St. Patrick's Cathedral

After a quick look through of the Marsh Library, we toured St Patrick's Cathedral, the largest Romanesque cathedral in Ireland where Jonathan Swift is buried.

After standing in 3 different bus stops, we finally found the one that took us back to our B&B. Had a small tapas dinner at John Kavanagh's Grave Digger's Pub (has been in the same family for 7 generations). They are reported to have the best tasting Guiness in the world -  Jim agreed!
